Hounslow Council is offering free motorcycle training to riders who live, work or study in the borough – and recent participants gave the session a big ‘thumbs up’.
BikeSafe involves a short theory session followed by observed rides in urban and rural settings. The rides take place alongside experienced police motorcyclists, either on a one-to-one or one-to-two ratio.
One rider who recently took part in a free Hounslow BikeSafe day said: “I wasn’t sure what to expect when I signed up. Least of all, a long bike ride to Virginia Waters with police escort. Wow!
“The informative and fast paced course contents, the friendly police trainers riding with us and the areas we visited during our long bike rides made me forget about the wet and windy weather.
“Sadly, the day wasn’t long enough and time flew by too quickly. People who are still toying with the idea of attending have no clue about what they are missing.”
Following the success of the event, Hounslow’s road safety team is organising more free BikeSafe days. As well as living, working or studying in Hounslow, riders wanting to take part must also have passed the CBT test and have their own motorcycle.
